Floods that inundate residential areas raise the risk of electric shock. Know the right first-aid steps to avoid adding victims.
Secure the Power Source
Before helping, make sure the power source is disconnected. Do not touch a victim who is still electrified with bare hands.
First-Aid Steps
- Cut the power from the main MCB / fuse.
- Use a dry, non-conductive object to move the victim away from the source.
- Check breathing and pulse; perform CPR if needed.
- Call emergency medical services immediately.
Prevention During Floods
Turn off home electricity when water starts entering, and make sure the electrical installation has ELCB protection to prevent shock hazards.
